The amount of cyanobacterial blooms has increased in both lakes and sea areas, and found more than the average for this time period. Water temperatures have increased quickly and helped blooms to develop. In the sea areas, blooms have been observed in the Gulf of Finland, in the Finnish Archipelago Sea, and in the Bay of Bothnia. In lakes, abundant blooms have been reported in more than ten observation sites
