Present role

I work as an expert and researcher in Freshwater Centre in Water Resources and Environmental Assessments group. My tasks are development and coordination of flood risk management planning in national level as well as expert services to local authorities and for ministry of agriculture and forestry. I work also as a flood risk expert in national Flood Centre.

Background

I’m water management engineer (M.Sc) from Aalto-university. I studied geoninformatics as minor subject. I did my thesis to Finnish Environment Institute about flood risk management plans 2010 and have been working with implementation of Floods directive and national legislation since then. After 2015 focus has slightly sifted to research and development, including e.g. flood risk assessment and climate change. I have been working as a secretary of national flood risk management coordination group and EU Working Group on Floods.

Current research interests

  • Assessment of floodrisks and damages
