Long-term changes in Baltic Sea ecosystem, marine litter and harmful algal blooms

Duties

  • Implementation of the marine strategy related to marine litter
  • Experimental phytoplankton research
  • Long-term changes in plankton communities

Ongoing projects

  • Project aiming to reduce the amount of marine litter (RoskatPois!: in Finnish)
  • RESERVOIR (Seed banks as reservoirs of diversity driving evolutionary dynamics and persistence of Baltic phytoplankton in a changing environment)
  • SPICE (Implementation and development of key components for the assessment of Status, Pressures and Impacts, and Social and Economic valuation in the Baltic Sea marine region)
  • Deriving production-relevant phytoplankton traits by integrated experimental platform development for future ecosystem models
  • BIO-C3 (Biodiversity changes – causes, consequences and management implications)
