In this project, the cost-effectiveness of digestate fertilizers from the farmers’ perspective is assessed. The main target is to assess the viable price range for the recycled fertilizer (in comparison to other competing fertilizers such as mineral fertilizers and manure). At the same time, economic restrictions for digestate processing from biogas plants perspective are clarified.
We assess 3-4 cases, where the current fertilizer use is compared to recycled fertilizers produced in this project. These cases could be organic cattle farms and traditional crop cultivation farm where organic farm uses concentrate (and replaces unprocessed digestate) and traditional farm uses phosphorous rich struvite (replacing mineral phosphorous).
