In the Finnish open sea areas of the Baltic Sea, surface blooms of cyanobacteria are most intensive in the southern part of the Bothnian Sea. Cyanobacteria are less abundant in coastal observation sites. Cyanobacteria observations are continuing to increase in lakes, and cyanobacteria are very abundant in a number of lakes in the southern Finland. More in Finnish
