The amount of cyanobacterial blooms is still fairly low in Finnish lakes and sea areas. The cooler-than-usual weather and strong winds have hampered cyanobacterial bloom formation. Thus far, there are only a few observations of substantial cyanobacterial blooms in lakes. In the Finnish sea areas no surface blooms have been observed and the numbers of cyanobacteria are rather small.
