Formation of Decision-Making System Aimed at Ecological and Economic Development of Issyk-Kul Lake's Territory Based on Results of Environment Monitoring (KGZ-Water / Issyk-Kul)

There are three main Project’s component:

Component 1. Cooperatio

Experience and information exchange among organizations and ongoing Projects on the territory of Issyk-Kul Oblast. Carrying out of joint events and campaigns with involvement of wide range of stakeholders, including NGOs and public. Development of Environment Monitoring Strategy (Institutional) under close cooperation with National Partner Ministries/Agencies/Institutions.

Component 2. Assessment

Issyk-Kul environmental database formation based on collected information, analysis and assessment of Issyk-Kul Oblast environmental status.

Development of interactive lake map broken down by zones of anthropogenic pollution load and indication of pollution levels. This is planned to be done based on international baseline pollution parameters with some adaptation to the local particularities.

Capacity building of specialists, responsible for analysis and usage of environmental data under development of strategic documents and implementation of current activity. Improvement of informing system through publication of State-of- the Environment (SoE) reports, carrying out of special campaigns and other events.

Component 3. Laboratory

Сapacity building of existing environmental laboratories, including comprehensive support to Cholpon-Ata Environmental Laboratory in terms of its accreditation in accordance of ISO/IEC 170025 requirements, through organization of its participation in the international proficiency tests and interlaboratory comparisons, carrying out of practical works, including sampling and analyses of Lake water samples, considering of possibility to use “Moltur” vessel for these purposes.

One of the additional tasks within the present component is the improvement of the Lab’s personnel skills in terms of advanced laboratorial equipment operation, particularly, atomic-absorption spectrometer, purchased for Environment Monitoring Administration SAEPF within the preceding Project “KGZ-Water”.
