In lakes, observations of cyanobacteria have ceased almost completely due to rainy, cool and windy weather. In the Finnish open Baltic Sea areas cyanobacteria are mixed in the water column, and no surface blooms have been detected. Available nutrients may still allow existing cyanobacteria to form mass occurrences if the weather turns again sunny and calm.
