World Water Week in Stockholm 2016

The FinWaterWEI II Programme will be represented at the World Water Week in Stockholm also this year. The Community-driven water and sanitation project (CoDWSS) implemented in Tajikistan by Oxfam will be presented at a UNECE-led event titled Equitable access to water and sanitation: sustainable growth for all.

The event will tackle the World Water Week's theme "Water for Sustainable Growth" by demonstrating how inclusiveness of services can lead to "sustainable growth for all".

The focus on equity and access to safe and affordable drinking water and to adequate sanitation and hygiene “for all” is the main innovation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development compared to the past global ambitions and essentially its main challenge. The concept of inclusiveness that is inherent to the objective of achieving universal coverage with water and sanitation requires implementation of the five dimensions of the human rights to water and sanitation: availability of service, physical accessibility, quality and safety, affordability and acceptability.
