Background
I have been working for the Finnish environmental administration since 2006 in various groundwater related tasks. My prior responsibilities have included groundwater monitoring and protection projects, preparing and writing publications, and assisting in the preparations of EU WFD water management plans. My master’s degree is from the department of Geology at Helsinki University, where I majored in quaternary geology and hydrogeology. Preceding the studies at Helsinki University, I took a Horticulturist degree in landscape design at Yrkeshögskolan Sydväst (today Novia University of Applied Sciences). My work experience has given a wide-ranging understanding of environmental issues, special knowledge of groundwater issues, understanding of groundwater-surface water interaction and groundwater dependant ecosystems as well as understanding of the whole hydrological cycle. Working for the environmental administration has also given a good understanding of the Finnish environmental legislation.
