Current task
I work as a group manager in the Syke's research infrastructure unit's marine analytics group. I maintain the laboratory and participate to its development. I am also part of the Marine Research Centre's company collaboration team. In addition I work as a project manager in different EU funded blue bioeconomy projects. Blue biotechnology studies marine organisms and resources trying to discover and develop new commercial products, such as drugs, chemicals, food, and biofuels.
Background
I have a MSc degree and PhD degree in microbiology from the Faculty of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Helsinki. I also studied marine biology. My dissertation topic was Virus-host systems in sea ice.
