Algal bloom monitoring August 2, 2018: Cyanobacterial blooms have decreased in the Finnish sea areas, there are still more cyanobacterial blooms than usually in lakes

Since last week, cyanobacterial blooms have decreased in the Finnish sea areas. Still, there is a lot of cyanobacteria mixed in the water in the Gulf of Finland, and surface blooms occur in the southern coast of the Bothnian Sea and in the southern areas of Åland. In lakes, observations of cyanobacteria have decreased since last week, but there are still more observations than usually on average. New cyanobacterial blooms may still occur, if warm and calm weather conditions prevail. More in Finnish
