Current tasks

I am a researcher and scientific diver in Sustainable Use of the Marine Areas unit in SYKE's Marine Research Centre.

My tasks include management and analysis of marine spatial data, species distribution modelling and research on marine habitats. I utilise programming and supercomputing for extensive GIS analyses and models on a daily bases. I am also involved in a couple of projects supporting maritime spatial planning working as an expert in marine ecosystems and GIS.

I solve multidisciplinary research questions related to offshore wind energy in the SmartSea project.

 

Background

Having a multidisciplinary background, I received my master's degree in Limnology from the University of Helsinki in 2016 and the degree of Master of Science (Technology) by Aalto University School of Electrical Engineering in 2019. I am also an Advanced European Scientific Diver and nationally qualified scientific diver (Luksia 2013).

I have gained knowledge on the marine habitats of the Baltic Sea while working as a Protected Area Management Coordinator and Ecological Surveyor for Parks and Wildlife Finland and The Centre for Economic Development, Transport and the Environment in 2012-2015.

As part of my free time activities, I am gaining expertise in challenging diving operations including cave and wreck diving utilising closed circuit rebreather. I am also a member of the board of Finnish Scientific Diving Steering Association (Suomen tutkimussukelluksen ohjausyhdistys ry).
