In this project, the environmental impacts of digestate processing and the generated recycled fertilizers are assessed with means of life cycle assessment (LCA). These impacts are compared to the refence situation, which in this case is the current chemical fertilization system in use. The focus of the assessment is fertilizer use and its changes in Northern Karelia, Finland, where biogas plant BioKymppi operates.
