Finnish algal bloom monitoring, June 19, 2014: Cyanobacterial blooms not yet observed, partly due to cold weather conditions

Press release 2014-06-19 at 13:32

Cold weather and strong winds have prevented formation of surface cyanobacterial blooms in lakes and in the coastal and open Baltic Sea areas of Finland. Blooms are typically not common in early summer, and now less cyanobacteria has been observed than on avarage. Citizens have better opportunities in near future to monitor algal bloom situation in the coastal Baltic Sea areas of Finland, when the complementary web-based service Meriwiki will be launched next to the already existing Järviwiki  web-service.
