Nationwide algal review 8.1.2013: Observations of cyanobacteria are still sparse in the Baltic Sea areas but increased in lakes

Observations of cyanobacterial blooms are sparse in the Finnish Baltic sea areas. Observations from lakes have slightly increased, which corresponds with the long term average situation. The increased number of observations in lakes is most likely due to increased water temperature and lighter winds.
