Finnish Environment Institute SYKE has strong expertise in risk assessment concerning the influence of mining on natural waters. We draw up guidelines and develop tools for environmental risk and impact assessment, for anticipation and management. We offer our know-how on confirming sustainability in all stages of mining and in order to minimise effects on the recipient.
The aim of sustainable mining is transparency, accountability and social acceptability. The environmental impact of a mine and related risks are well known. Sustainable mining is operated at a higher level than its permit requires throughout its lifecycle.
