Background
I have worked in the Finnish Environment Institute since 2004. I first held a joint research professorship between Syke and the University of Oulu in the field of aquatic ecology. At that time, I also coordinated the development of the ecological classification of Finnish inland waters. In 2009, I moved to Jyväskylä to develop the ecotoxicology laboratory and related research activities. I also work in expert groups to assess the red list of endangered species and habitats. Along my career, the Finnish drainage basins have become familiar from South to North and from East to West.
