Today we celebrate the World Water Day and this year’s theme is ‘Valuing Water’. As stated by the UN High Level Panel on Water: “In order to recognise the value of water you need to understand water and manage it sustainably”.

The Finnish Environment Institute SYKE is a multidisciplinary research and expert institute that has a key role in transitioning towards a more sustainable water economy.

SYKE’s water management solutions builds on over 100 years of hydrological monitoring which together with state-of-the art hydrological modelling is the backbone of our versatile services. Our flood and drought risk assessment, lake and stream management and water quality modelling solutions are all based on high quality research and expertise.

Today SYKE will release a new online information leaflet aimed at potential collaborators and clients worldwide who need reliable and forward-thinking expertise on water issues.

“To make our contribution to transforming water use on a sustainable path and achieve the water related Sustainable Development Goals, we in SYKE decided to publish our research-based expertise in this new format. We wish that this is a way to engage wider audiences and build new partnerships”, says Professor Anna-Stiina Heiskanen, the Director of the SYKE Freshwater Centre.
