Project Description
The specific objectives of this assignment were to:
- Establish and consolidate an updated and effective environmental monitoring system capable of tracking the status of environment by using the environmental norms and directives of the European Union as a general reference framework;
- Improve data quality through the development of an up-to-date, cost-effective and sustainable integrated environmental monitoring system according to the standards of EEA and other relevant European institutions.
Services provided by SYKE
- SYKE was in charge of creating and developing hydrobiological monitoring network for lakes, rivers and coastal waters covering major parameters according to WFD;
- Training and detailed standard operational procedures were provided for phytoplankton, aquatic macrophytes, benthic invertebrates and fish;
- Additionally SYKE assisted in developing databases and geographical information system for environmental data management system.
