Networks and co-operation

International cooperation forms an important part of Finnish Environment Institute's (Syke) responsibilities. We work together with national and international research institutions and universities, and also provide international consulting. In addition to that, Syke assumes and develops coordination and reporting tasks required in the implementation of many international agreements.

Syke and multidisciplinary networks

  • PEER (Partnership for European Environmental Research) is a partnership of eight of the largest European environmental centres with the aim of combining forces to follow a joint strategy in environmental sciences and to enhance research on ecological sustainability. Syke has been member of this network since the beginning in 2001.
  • TULANET is the Finnish counterpart for PEER, the partnership of ten state owned research institutes.
  • EEA (The European Environment Agency) is an agency of the European Union and Syke is the national focal point of EEA in Finland. EEA's task is to provide sound, independent information on the environment and to coordinate the European environment information and observation network.

Climate change

  • Climate-ADAPT is a platform for collecting and sharing information on climate change adaptation in Europe.
