Finland and sustainable well-being

Respecting the limits of the earth is a prerequisite for the well-being of humanity. The circular economy, low carbon emissions, and securing biodiversity move society in a sustainable direction. Accelerating the change requires quick political decisions also in Finland. Consumption and production in Finland are not at a sustainable level. This has negative effects on the well-being of the entire planet, which ultimately comes back and impacts Finland.

Forest enhances well-being among school pupils

According to recent studies, the proximity of nature clearly has positive effects on a child's development. Nature has a refreshing effect on people. Furthermore, contacts with nature add to the versatility of the body's microbial flora while strengthening immune defences. The location of primary and secondary schools with respect to forests has been studied based on location information in the Finnish capital region as well as the urban areas of Tampere and Turku. Two out of five primary schools are located at a distance of more than 300 metres from a forest. More on the contact that day care centres and schools have with nature.
