We support decision-making with research-based publications
Finnish Environment Institute is committed to producing high-quality publications that reflect the results of our work and promote sustainable development. We publish around 600 titles each year in domestic and international scientific and professional series, guides, reports, journals, and brochures.
Our goal is to support decision-making with research-based publications, such as Syke Policy Brief statements, which provide timely recommendations for decision-makers.
The Syke Reports series publishes studies and reviews that are openly available in the Helda publication archive and the national research database. Our publications are easily accessible, and about 90% of our scientific articles are openly available.

Comprehensive security is founded on a good state of the environment
Climate change, biodiversity loss and the crossing of tipping points in the Earth System are among the most serious security risks in the coming decades.
Syke's annual report
Syke’s 30th anniversary year was a time of both celebration and change. In 2025, Syke continued its strong work for the environment at a time when adjustments to central government finances created significant pressure for the years ahead. At the same time, a new strategy for 2026–2030 was prepared.
