Research Vessel Aranda

Aranda is a modern, ice-reinforced research vessel. She was planned and built for Baltic Sea research, but in principle, she is able to operate in all seas. Aranda's administration is done by the Finnish Environment Institute (SYKE).

Aranda’s monitoring cruise reveals: Last summer’s algal bloom in the Baltic Sea was the result of a surge of nutrient-rich water from the Baltic Proper 2018-09-28
Research vessel Aranda’s first monitoring cruise after its renovation was a success despite challenging weather conditions and a tight schedule. The results show that salty and oxygen-depleted water reaching as far as the Eastern Gulf of Finland could spell difficult cyanobacterial bloom conditions next year as well.

Renovated marine research vessel Aranda embarks immediately on a research cruise 2018-09-07
The renovated marine research vessel Aranda was delivered to the Finnish Environment Institute SYKE today. The overhaul was carried out by Rauma Marine Constructions Oy at its shipyard in the city of Rauma. Next week the Aranda heads out on her first research cruise on the Baltic Sea.
