Nordic and international hydrometry workshop 21–25 September
Welcome to hydrometry workshops (NIHW)!
Join us to strengthen collaboration and exchange advances in hydrometric methods, technologies, and ideas in an open and friendly forum. The workshop is organised by the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) and Economic Development Centre of Southwest Finland.
Registration before 28th June
The final registration is now open and we wish that you register here before 28th June:

Programme
Monday
10.00–12.00 Registration at Arktikum
Afternoon:
- Welcoming words
- Keynote speakers
- Brief introduction to hydrological monitoring in different countries
We will invite each governmental organization to give an introductory presentation on each country´s monitoring network (variables, station numbers, organization, public web pages for hydrological data) and/or recent developments and new aspects.
Tuesday
8.30–17.00 Workshop presentations
- New hydrological and hydrometrical measurements
Aim is to invite presentations on new measurement techniques, methods and applications in all fields of hydrology with a broad spectrum. - QA/QC, data consistency and data quality criteria in hydrometry
Aim is to invite presentations on QC/QA and data quality criteria methods in different countries as well as AI assistance in quality control and different tools in use. Also, scientific approaches are welcome. - International collaboration on tools, platforms and validation practices
Aim is to invite presentations on solutions and needs different countries have on tools, platforms and validation practices and also tools that are found useful, to promote discussions on how to collaborate if resources are limited or hydrological information systems need to be renewed. - QRev
Aim is to introduce QRevInt and QRevMS when doing and/or checking discharge measurements (ADCP, FlowTracker) and different options and user developments the applications have.
Evening: Finnish sauna and optional evening activities
Wednesday
8.30–17.00 Workshop presentations and poster session
- Discharge measurements and methods
Aim is to invite presentations on discharge measurements, used equipment and aspects that cause uncertainties in discharge measurements (e.g. slow water movement, vegetation, shallowness etc.) and how to take these into account.
Late afternoon: IHG meeting (members only)
Evening: Workshop dinner (optional)
Thursday
8.30–17.00 Workshop presentations and instrument presentations
- Rating curves
Aim is to invite presentations on rating curve methods and uncertainties associated as well as recent developments in mathematical methods.
Mini-workshop themes (Wednesday and Thursday)
- Manufacturer´s presentations Hydrometrical manufacturer´s session to present their equipment in addition to Friday demo sessions on nearby stations.
- QRevInt-QRevMS Bring your own ADCP or FlowTracker data and let´s check it together with QRevInt or QRevMS
- Gauging methods Mini-workshop on water level and flow rate measurements
- Snow and ice Mini-workshop on ice and snow measurements and monitoring
