Open environmental information systems

Environmental monitoring is the regular and long-term collection of data about the environment, aimed at distinguishing changes caused by human activities from those occurring naturally.

Obligatory monitoring by cities, municipalities, industrial plants, and other operators provides information about the burdened and altered environment.

System downtime

The Hertta Information System will be down on Tuesday 25.11 at around 15-17 for a version update. We apologise for the inconvenience.

Hertta information system

The environmental information management system Hertta includes datasets that are freely accessible and have been compiled into the Open Environmental Information Systems service. This service provides information stored in the environmental administration’s information systems about water resources, the status of surface waters, groundwater, species, environmental load, and land use, as well as geospatial data related to the environment.

Registration and login

When using the service, the service license and responsibilities must be taken into account. Environmental information systems are under an open data license. Additionally, the Liiteri habitat information and analysis service has its own terms of use. During registration, the user must provide the requested information to the service provider. After registration, the user will be provided with the necessary password for the service. The user’s personal data will only be used for the purpose specified in the service’s privacy statement.
