Syke is a government research institute with approximately 700 experts and researchers in Helsinki, Joensuu, Jyväskylä, and Oulu. We study environmental changes and develop solutions to influence these changes. Our work is based on long-term environmental monitoring, scientific knowledge, and strong expertise in the field.

What kind of expertise is needed at Syke?
We need environmental experts from various educational backgrounds, ranging from technical education to biological and environmental sciences, other natural sciences, and social sciences. We particularly value higher university degrees or doctoral degrees. In addition to subject matter expertise, skills in methods, information systems, communication, and procurement are essential for our work. We also value problem-solving abilities and readiness to work in an international environment.
What positions are available?
We conduct several dozen recruitments annually. We offer both permanent and temporary positions. Many of the positions are project-related, funded externally for a fixed term.

How to apply for an internship at Syke?
University and polytechnic students can apply for internships at Syke through the annual centralized internship application process. We announce our higher education internship positions on the state’s recruitment service valtiolle.fi once a year. Internship announcements are made at the beginning of the year.
