Accessibility status

The Finnish Environment Institute has assessed the accessibility of the website together with the system provider and an external consultant. The website partially meets the requirements of the Finnish Act on the Provision of Digital Services 306/2019.

Non-accessible content

Implementation of the user interface

  • The attention banner takes up too much screen space if the text is enlarged to 200% in a mobile browser.

Technical implementation

  • Some of the ARIA label texts on the website have not been translated into Finnish or Swedish and are in English. This may make it more difficult for screen reader users to navigate and understand the content.

Disproportionate burden

  • Some PDF, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files published after 23 September 2018 are not accessible.
  • The menu for sorting search results (most relevant, latest) is available with a screen reader, but the function does not convey enough information about its purpose. The correction requires changes to a third-party product. Currently, this is not possible.
  • The embedded newsletter subscription form on the website has a field that is not marked as mandatory in the user interface. The correction requires changes to a third-party implementation.
