EO web map services
Satellite data (EO) is available as WMS services. Most services are also available in WCS download services. The coordinate system is ETRS-TM35FIN or WGS84.
Information on the data and instructions on how to use WCS download services can be found from Syke's Earth Observation eowiki (ymparisto.fi). For more information, please email group@syke.fi (group=eotuki).
Daily earth observation web map services are updated from one up to five times a week. Seasonal earth observation products web map services are updated once a year.
If you plan to use Syke’s WFS or WCS services in an application you develop or maintain in the long term or otherwise to use our interfaces more intensively, we require you to request a unique identifier to be used in your applications WFS or WCS requests from Syke’s gis support group@syke.fi (group=gistuki). By requesting the identifier you accept that your contact information will be stored according to Syke’s privacy policies. Privacy statement (in Finnish).
Water quality, water temperature, snow and ice
Web map services by the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) can be browsed in the Tarkka service (Tarkka.syke.fi). The WMS for the data can be found at

The data is mainly on time-bound interfaces, so if you want data for a specific day or year, you must add the date/year to the call as follows: time=[YYYY-MM-DD] or time=[YEAR]. E.g. time=2024-07-01 or time=2023
