Solutions to the sustainability transformation through collaboration

We offer strong expertise and independent information on global phenomena such as climate change, biodiversity loss, overconsumption, pollution, and eutrophication.

With research and knowledge towards a sustainable society

At the Finnish Environment Institute, we create solutions for the sustainability transformation. We work to stop biodiversity loss and climate change. We promote a sustainable circular economy and built environment, as well as the good condition of seas and inland waters. We creatively seek and enthusiastically test new, research-based solutions.

We value constructive collaboration and the diversity of our work community – we invest in equality. The Finnish Environment Institute is a governmental research institute employing around 700 experts and researchers in Helsinki, Joensuu Jyväskylä, and Oulu. Our activities are guided by the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Finland.
