We provide information to support water-related decision-making with 100 years of experience. In co-operation we develop solutions for water management and protection, as well as the sustainable use of water resources.
Solutions to secure clean waters
We assess the impacts of human activities on water quality and aquatic biodiversity. We study water bodies and groundwater, and provide water situation forecasts e.g. for flood protection and prediction.
Long-term water monitoring and high-quality multidisciplinary research support water management, watershed planning, water body restoration, and adaptation to the impacts of climate change. We report monitoring results to organisations such as the European Environment Agency and the European Commission.

Flood Centre provides forecasts and warnings as well as daily updates of the hydrological situation in Finland. Services are available for the local authorities, residents and operators.
