The postdoctoral programme launched by Finnish research institutes last autumn received a great deal of attention and applications. A total of 1600 people have already applied for the postdoctoral positions so far. Last autumn, there were 188 applicants for postdoctoral researcher positions promoting the sustainability transformation and related method development at Syke. We wish to thank for the applicants for their interest in the positions! Recruitment for Syke's postdoctoral programme continues this spring with 7 open positions.

’The postdoctoral programme of Finnish government research institutes advances ambitious applied research, development and innovation in areas that are important for the society and economy. In Syke, the programme provides an avenue for renewal through bringing our already high-impact research closer to business and administration’ Research director Eeva Primmer describes.

Apply for the open positions

Syke's next postdoc positions will focus on research questions addressing nature and ecosystems as well as socio-economic systems in areas that face high knowledge demand in administration and business.

The opened positions:

The postdoctoral researchers will work in Syke's units and groups as members of staff and the recruitment will follow existing practices. A postdoctoral level researcher has completed their PhD within the last 10 years and has a minimum of 5 years of research work experience, including prior to completing the PhD and after it. The postdoctoral researcher must master research methods in their own field and have an ability to work as a researcher relatively independently. In addition to regular application documents, applicants will be requested to include a short (max 2 pages) research plan in English.

The recruitment will emphasise experience and interest in business collaboration as well as working in the science-policy interface with the public sector, and in networks. The impact of the postdoctoral researchers will be evaluated as a part of the monitoring and evaluation of the R&D Funding Act.
