Research and expertise
I have worked in Syke since February 2001, as a researcher, senior research scientist, group manager for up to 15 people, development manager and leading research scientist, and since 1.1.2025 as a unit director for 65-70 researchers and experts. Before entering Syke, I worked in the environmental office of the City of Espoo (starting 1989), Ministry of Environment, University of Helsinki, and
Efektia Ltd (Consultant company owned by the Association of Finnish Municipalities).
I have 44 peer-reviewed scientific publications and over 100 other publications. I have been a member or chair of several working groups and expert groups of the Nordic Council of Ministers and EU Commission. I have led dozens of research and development projects, including 12 projects with budget over 100,000 euros, and the largest one being a project of over 750,000 euros. I have appeared on television in programs about climate-related choices of households, and I have presented many Syke statements to the committees of the Finnish Parliament. I like doing diverse research and expert work, and I have also learned to like leading people.
