Research and expertise

My research focuses particularly on the role of microbes in the material cycles and ecosystems of cold seas and land-sea continuums. My areas of expertise include sea ice microbes and the interactions between microbes and organic matter. In my recent projects, I have also explored the challenges of marine biodegradability of bio-based plastics and their biological foundations. I actively participate in research related to the Arctic region and seas, as well as in international collaboration on the utilization of scientific knowledge within various expert organizations.
