Research and expertise

I work as a researcher at the Finnish Environment Institute (Syke). In my work, I am interested in studying how economic activities are linked to different environmental impacts, such as greenhouse gas emissions, the use of raw materials, and biodiversity loss. As part of our research team, I develop environmentally extended economic models, which we apply in many kinds of assessments of sustainable production and consumption.

I have worked at Syke since 2020 in various projects. The research themes have included, among others, the circular economy, the food system, the clean energy transition, consumption-based emissions, and biodiversity footprints. Alongside my work, I am pursuing a doctoral dissertation at the Oulu Business School of the University of Oulu. In my dissertation, I use an environmentally extended economic model to study how consumption and production in Finland put pressure on biodiversity.
