Research and expertise

My background is in natural resource governance, qualitative research synthesis and science-policy interactions. Currently, my research focuses on knowledge co-production processess and how these foster (or do not foster) participation of the public in environmental research and desicion-making. My resent projects include FACTOR, where we implemented citizen juries related to climate policies in Finland and evaluated their performance in advancing just climate transitions.  In the EU Horizon project Merlin, we designed a knowledge co-production process for upscaling nature-based solutions in freshwater restoration.  My other research interests relate to citizen science research and developing citizen science research projects that are impactful and inclusive.

I'm also the Finnish National Focal Point for European Environment Information and Observation Network (EIONET) of the European Environmental Agency (EEA). I coordinate the network of Finnish experts participating in EIONET activities.
