Research and expertise
I am hydrogeologist and have worked in the Finnish Environment Institute since 1995. Before that I worked in the Environment Administration. In addition, I had secondary occupation as an expert counsellor on the environment in The Supreme Administrative Court of Finland in 2013–2017.
I have focused my research in the occurrence, fate and transformation of contaminants in groundwater and in other environments. I have expertise in management of risks such as policy recommendations, and water treatment and remediation of aquifers. As head of unit, I have experience in Research Programme for Contaminants and Risks and Contaminants Unit in 2006–2013. I acted as Development Manager in Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production in 2014–2017 and in 2021–2022 .
