Project info

Green transition creates new land-use pressures in the Barents region. The project creates new understanding, networks and resources for steering the transition in a manner that ensures ecological, social and cultural sustainability.

The work is divided into 3 work packages:

  • Work package 1: Spatial data methods in Cumulative Impact  Assessments in Sápmi
  • Work package 2: Capacity building on battery value chain operations and activities between the Nordic countries – Pre-study
  • Work package 3: Participation of Indigenous Peoples and local communities in the OECM processes in Finland, Sweden, and Norway.

The key project activities include several workshops, site visits, networking and a final seminar for invited Nordic stakeholders. The results will be published in 2025.

The project is funded by Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and steered by the Ministry of the Environment of Finland.

The final seminar of the project was held on Thursday 11th December 2025. We warmly thank all the participants! The presentations in pdf-format can be downloaded from the link below.
