Solutions to support climate action
We study the impacts of climate change and provide solutions for both mitigating climate change and adapting to its effects.
Objective: A society that is low-carbon, sustainably uses natural resources, and adapts flexibly to changes
Climate change is one of the most serious environmental issues affecting humanity. It is linked to the loss of biodiversity and unsustainable consumption and production patterns. Excessive use of forests can reduce our carbon sinks for decades to come.
At The Finnish Environment Institute, we assess the impacts of climate change and climate actions, and develop effective solutions to mitigate and adapt to climate change.
Our research covers a wide range of topics, including air pollutants, hydrological changes, just transition, energy economy, and the climate impacts of consumption and land use. We specialize in policy analyses related to climate change mitigation and adaptation, life cycle-based greenhouse gas emission assessments, and the evaluation of climate change impact scenarios, vulnerability, and adaptation.
