Our service offers comprehensive support for various research endeavors, specializing in vegetation and bathymetric mapping through advanced navigation systems. We cater to a wide array of research needs, including model calibration, microplastics analysis, water quality and quantity assessments, sediment sampling, underwater imaging, and precise vegetation mapping.

Research Capabilities: Our multi-sensor systems are equipped to handle diverse research objectives - whether it’s deploying advanced equipment for water and sediment sampling or utilizing cutting-edge technologies for underwater imaging and vegetation mapping.

Flexible Platform: We provide a versatile platform designed to integrate various sensor systems, while excluding the Walker Bay model. Our featured vessels include:

  • W10 DC WORK (>100 hv): A robust modified platform with a trailer (capacity: 2000 kg)
  • Alucat W8 DC (90 hv): A compact option with a trailer (capacity: 1300 kg)
  • Walker Bay RID 340 ST: Lightweight and efficient for small operations (trailer capacity: <<500 kg), ideal for lakes
  • For more detailed specifications, please visit the respective manufacturer’s page

Specifications:

  • Length: Approximately 5 m (W8) and 6.5 m (W10)
  • Width: Approximately 2.3 m (W10 & W8)
  • Draft: Greater than 0.35 m
  • Speed: Exceeds 30 km/h (excluding Walker Bay)
  • Design: A Class C vessel (W10 & W8), ideal for inshore navigation, accommodating 4-8 people and capable of handling waves up to 2 meters

Navigation Features: Equipped with professional navigation systems (Lowrance HDS12 or similar, including versatile options like Humminbird), we ensure a high level of operational accuracy. Additional gear includes dry suits, a small lift on W10 (not applicable for Walker Bay), and provisions for flow-through systems and ADCP (Acoustic Doppler Current Profiler) metrics. The W8 DC features an integrated flow-through system with a precision IMU/GNSS system.

Data Management: Our navigation system allows seamless import and export of data to various user and open data platforms, ensuring accessibility and usability of research findings depending on the sensors employed.

Locations: Finnish Environment Institute (Syke) Vantaa (W8 & Walker Bay), Syke Joensuu (W10)
