Research

I work as a postdoc researcher in the Marine Ecology Measurements group, utilizing the information produced by the phytoplankton imaging device in ecological research. I work on plankton and especially phytoplankton imaging. I develop and coordinate the data streams and automatic classification using artificial intelligence of the Imaging FlowCytobot (IFCB) device, as well as the utilization of the information produced by the device in various national and international projects. I also work on other plankton imaging devices (e.g. FlowCam, CytoSense, Planktoscope, Zooscan), and to promote the development of automatic classification methods and their integration into operational activities. In the fall of 2024, I defended my thesis on the suitability of phytoplankton imaging as a method for the Baltic Sea phytoplankton species, especially for bloom-forming cyanobacteria.
