Amount of observations on cyanobacteria has decreased in the Finnish sea areas and lakes. In the open sea, some small surface accumulations of cyanobacteria have been observed, but no extensive blooms anymore. In lakes, less cyanobacteria has been reported than a week ago, and only a couple of abundant blooms have been observed. If wind and mixing of the water column bring nutrients from deeper water layers into the surface layer, the increase of cyanobacteria is still possible during the late summer period.
